John Cena Promotes Neutrogena Sunscreen Line After Revealing Past Skin Cancer Diagnosis

John Cena might be famous for his unbreakable WWE persona, but there’s one thing he admits he couldn’t fight—skin damage. The 46-year-old wrestling legend and actor just revealed that he quietly battled skin cancer in the past, and now, he’s using his platform to make sure no one else makes the same mistakes.

Cena has teamed up with Neutrogena to promote its Ultra Sheer Mineral Face Liquid Sunscreen SPF 70, fronting the brand’s “Sunscreen You Can’t See” campaign. The message? Slather up, people! Sun protection is non-negotiable, even if you’re built like a superhero.

“I Thought It Would Never Happen to Me”

Cena opened up about his past sunburn sins, admitting that in his 20s, he wasn’t exactly the poster child for SPF.

I was stubborn. I didn’t want to have a routine and I also thought the problem would never reach me. And it’s one of those things where I had a ton of exposure with minimal protection and it caught up with me,” Cena said in an interview with People.

After moving to sun-drenched Florida, he started noticing cancerous spots on his skin. One was removed from his right pectoral area, and another showed up near his right shoulder a year later. That’s when reality hit.

Now, he’s the first to remind everyone: sun damage isn’t a joke.

A Sunscreen Campaign You Can’t See

Because everything Cena does is iconic, his new sunscreen campaign takes inspiration from his legendary “You Can’t See Me” catchphrase. The ad plays up the fact that Neutrogena’s mineral sunscreen blends seamlessly into the skin, so there’s no ghostly white cast—just solid SPF protection.

“I had a blast working on this campaign. It’s funny, but it also gets across a really important point—wearing SPF every day isn’t something you should skip,” Cena furthered.

Why Cena’s Sunscreen Pick is Worth Trying

If you’re not a daily SPF person (first of all, fix that), Cena’s sunscreen of choice might be the one to convert you. The Ultra Sheer Mineral Face Liquid Sunscreen SPF 70 is:

  • Lightweight & fast-absorbing (aka, no greasy mess)
  • Invisible on all skin tones (no white cast, thank you very much)
  • SPF 70 (because go big or go home)

Cena’s hoping his own experience inspires others to take skin protection seriously.

“I would say just get out of your own way,” he admitted to People. “We all love to get out there on a sunny day and enjoy what the world has to offer. Gosh, just take that one extra step and brush your teeth and put on some Neutrogena Ultra Sheer, and you’ll be able to get a lot more days of doing that.”

And honestly? If John Cena is telling us to wear SPF, we’re listening.
